Research Interests
When I was really young, I always envisioned I would be a scientist, pouring different fluorescent liquids into different glassware. I enjoyed participating in science fairs and performing fun experiments. This translated to high school, where my fantastic chemistry teacher, Ms. Bellman, opened up the doors to more advanced science.

As I grew older, my interest in research began at Webster University where I was taught the basics of cell culture and experimental design. A year later, I was introduced to ecological field research with Dr. Nicole Miller-Struttmann, studying environmental behavior in urban environments. There, I established a passion for the scientific process as well as the natural environment.

Upon my arrival at IUPUI and Indianapolis, I took immunology courses with Dr. Slayback-Barry and was instantly fascinated with the immune system. At the same time, I worked as a work study student in Dr. Gustavo Arrizabalaga’s Lab here at IUSM, learning more basics about microbiology techniques. I also had the opportunity to spend a summer with Eli Lilly’s internship program and spoke with immunologists and other professional scientists about asking good scientific questions. I learned that I enjoyed the creation of a project and the work that goes into discoveries. Together, these experiences brought me to graduate school at IUSM where I can pursue my curiosities and hopefully translate them into insightful and helpful research.

I spend a lot of my free time running & training for various races throughout the year. I love cooking for myself, friends, & family too. I enjoy an active lifestyle, always exploring Indianapolis, restaurants, and parks!
